Although using the old kit and having some retro speed sessions has been fun, I felt that I needed some modern comforts today so went out with a 4.5m wave sail and my Naish Hybrid Freewave.

What a difference, so much more fun and so much for comfortable. No need to rest after each run, just non stop blasting back and forth in the sunshine. It was never going to be as fast as none of the kit is designed for speed, but I was still hitting 29 knots on mist runs, but at that speed, the fin was just too flexible and couldn't really cope so the back-end became really twitchy and I was fighting spin-out all the imte. Other than that though it was as perfect as it gets.

Plenty of sunshine, loads of wind and some nice flat water as well as come chop to play on. The waves were small but every now and then a little set would come through and I did manage some super-fast down the line wave rides.

I then sheared off a footstrap screw so went in to change that as Dave and Sarah appeared on the beach. Unfortunately the wind dropped at this point and although I managed one more underpowered run I then ran out of wind and ended up having to swim and walk back.

Would have been a 5 star session, but the swim and walk at the end knocks it down to 4 stars.
